In this role, you'll craft beverages, keep the coffee shop stocked and spotless, and make sure every customer walks away with exactly what they came in for, and a smile to go with it. If you enjoy connecting with people, love a fast-paced environment, and take pride in doing things well, this could be a great fit for you.No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, learning their names, and going the extra mile to make every visit a positive oneTake customer orders at the counter and over the phone, and assist with finding products and answering questionsPrepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed throughout your shiftMonitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead of daily needsHandle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards at all timesCheck in product, put product away, and review invoices as neededRun the department register and process payments where applicableRemove trash promptly and maintain a tidy departmentWork alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customerMaintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policiesAssist in other store areas and take on special projects as neededYou'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, and Coffee Shop Department ManagerYou don't need prior experience for this role! We'll happily train and support you as you grow. To be successful, you'll need to be able to:Follow written and verbal instructions with confidenceUse basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recordingCommunicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful wayStay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environmentLess than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferredAccountable and Reports to: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, and Coffee Shop Department ManagerLess than a high school diploma or equivalent experience acceptedUp to six months of similar or related work experience preferredFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas. Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation. Exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment. Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards. Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties.This role is performed in a store coffee shop environment with significant pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities throughout your shift. You may encounter exposure to noise, equipment movement hazards, cleaning chemicals or solvents, and possible electrical shock and temperature extremes.
